SB880 not dead after all.

SB80 dies in Senate Appropriations, HB 1301 laid over.

SB80, concerning HPV vaccine, died in Senate Appropriations Committee March 2, 2007. However, when there is a tie vote, anyone who voted on the prevailing side (the NO votes) can make a motion to reconsider. If this were done, SB80 would be put back on the appropriations committee agenda for next week.

Action Needed:

Contact the senators who voted NO on SB 80 and tell them thank you. Tell them to also vote NO on HB 1301 if and when it gets to the senate. HB 1301 was laid over in House Health and Human Services Committee March 1 and has not been rescheduled yet.

The title of HB1301 is: CONCERNING INCREASING THE AVAILABILITY OF CERVICAL CANCER IMMUNIZATIONS, AND, IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, ESTABLISHING THE CERVICAL CANCER IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM, ENCOURAGING FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS TO CONTRACT WITH LOCAL HEALTH AGENCIES TO ADMINISTER CERVICAL CANCER IMMUNIZATIONS, REQUIRING A CERVICAL CANCER IMMUNIZATION PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN, SPECIFYING THAT CERVICAL CANCER IMMUNIZATION IS A BENEFIT FOR MEDICAID RECIPIENTS, AND REQUIRING THAT CERTAIN HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES PROVIDE COVERAGE FOR CERVICAL CANCER IMMUNIZATIONS.
